The Civic sedan and hatchback both have an optional 180-horsepower turbocharged engine that improves performance. The previous-generation 2021 Civic hatchback had this engine as an option, whereas the 2021 Civic sedan had a 174-horsepower variant.
Throughout the Civic lineup, a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) is standard. It works particularly well with the turbocharged engine, allowing for quick acceleration and smooth power delivery. The 2022 Civic is available with a six-speed manual transmission, although only in hatchback Sport and Sport Touring models.
